Business owner
Tom
TA is just his initials. Tom Ashcroft registered the business in February 2021 and has run it himself ever since, as a sole trader rather than a company, this means there is nothing sitting between you and the person doing the work. He quotes the job, he does the job, and he is the one who picks up if you ring about it six months later.
He has been in the electrical industry for over twenty years, a good deal longer than the business has existed, and TA Electrical GC is not the first one he has run. He had his own electrical company in the UK before moving out to Australia in 2014.
Apprentice
Sam
Sam came on board in 2024, at seventeen years old, as TA Electrical's first apprentice. Taking an apprentice on is the sort of thing you only do when there is more work than one person can get through.
Off the tools
Two of them, and a fair bit going on either side of the working day.
Tom has a young family, and his wife runs the admin side of the business, which is what makes "small family business" a description rather than a slogan. Weekends, where the work allows, they regularly go on trips away in the caravan. Tom also follows the Gold Coast Titans, and attends their home games.
Sam keeps himself fit outside work and lives with his partner and a chocolate lab. He follows the Manly Sea Eagles, so the football talk in the van does not always agree.
Both of them climbed the Q1 tower for LIVIN, the mental health charity. It gets a mention because it says more about how a small business is run than a page about values ever would. Heading up 77 floors of the tower, on a morning off raising money for a good cause.

Tell him about the job and he will come back with a price. Asking costs nothing.
No job too small
His own line, and he means it. One faulty power point is an acceptable reason to ring.
